Triad Audio Lab is a research-driven creative company run by Dr YongJu Lee at the intersection of sound, technology, and culture. Built on three interconnected pillars—Acoustics, Music Production, and AI Audio Development—the lab unites academic research, technical innovation, and professional practice. In Acoustics, we design studios and sound environments using advanced modelling and new materials to deliver precision and clarity. In Music Production, we draw on deep expertise in mixing and mastering to create recordings that balance artistic expression with technical excellence, including cross-cultural collaborations and K-pop. In AI Audio Development, we pioneer tools such as the Sonic Mass plugin and the SCAN framework, exploring how artificial intelligence can understand, adapt, and replicate the styles of human mix engineers. Our mission is to connect creativity and technology, redefining how music is made, experienced, and understood worldwide.
TriadAudioLab
CEO and Researcher
Dr YongJu Lee is a mixing and mastering engineer, researcher, and founder of Triad Audio Lab. After completing a PhD at the University of West London, his research developed Sonic Cartoon Theory as a framework for understanding how metaphorical language is translated into technical action during audio mixing. His work combines practice-based research with Actor-Network Theory and ecological approaches to sound perception, shaping both academic discourse and practical tools for engineers. Professionally, he has produced and mastered music across genres, with a focus on K-pop and cross-cultural projects. Beyond production, he leads innovation in AI audio development, including the Sonic Mass plugin and SCAN framework, which models and replicates human mixing practices through machine learning. Drawing on over 20 years of international experience, Dr Lee bridges artistry, technology, and research to expand the ways music can be created, taught, and experienced
